Illinois Medical Cannabis Program Updates

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is migrating the Medical Cannabis and Opioid Alternative Programs to a new system. Due to temporary system errors, IDPH is not able to approve new patient applications at this time.

Program Changes & Fee Reductions

Beginning on 6/22/21, the following changes to the Medical Cannabis and Opioid Alternative Programs are in effect:

• Medical cannabis patients no longer need to have a designated dispensary. If you have a medical cannabis card, you can come in and shop at Dispensary 33.
• State application fees for medical cannabis cards have been reduced by 50%
  • $50 for one-year patient registration
  • $100 for two-year patient registration
  • $125 for three-year patient registration
